Customer:  Leading robotics manufacturer for order fulfillment automation.

Project details:  With the functionality of the unit proved out, it was high time to get the outer covers designed and implemented for a trial run.

Challenges:  Initial product was required within six weeks and design concepts were not planned out.  The customer, Bo-Mer and our tool shop’s engineers worked hand in hand designing the cover package.  Designs were completed within a four hour period and included up to 27 actuated sections.  These features added to the functionality, robustness and aesthetics of the covers.  Along with pushing the limits in molding, sensor areas had to be 5-axis machined within an extreme tolerance range.

Product was delivered from the production tooling within the designated timeline and the covers fit like a glove, all thanks to early involvement and thinking outside the box from all parties.
