A client came to us with an issue of people stealing drugs from IV bags that were beside beds in hospitals. They wanted a solution to this, and together we came up with Medical Boxes.
This program started off at a very annual volume. Initially all of the internal polycarbonate components were machined in house. Once volumes kicked in, these components all went to injection molding.
Several features had to be tweaked/redesigned due to the ability for thieves to extract the the drugs by various means from the locked box.
- Added the bottom needle guard as some clever person figured out how to bend a needle to get to the bag from the outside.
- Added epoxy to the lock as again, someone figured out how to pick it.
Our client, as well as their end customers have been very pleased with the end result.
